Technology Upgrades Benefit Teachers, Students
Project Budget: $70,000 ​
The best teachers in the world can struggle to reach their students if the right technology isn’t available. Likewise, the best students won’t be engaged if they aren’t in an environment that’s conducive to learning.
“Better technology creates a better classroom environment,” said Alex Gabriel, Coordinator of Academic Technologies at Thomas Nelson.

Templin Hall Upgrade Promotes Collaboration
Project Budget: $45,000 ​
As campus-wide technology upgrades continued in Room 912 in Templin Hall, professors and students were left seeing red, and different shades of red at that. When you are involved in the visual arts and doing a lot of work with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite, it’s important colors match up perfectly. The Samsung and Sharp monitors being used in the room were off on their colors just enough to present problems.

New Collaborative Training Room at Historic Triangle Campus ​
Project Budget: $15,000 ​
HT now has a collaborative training room with the maximum capacity of six persons for use by Administrators, Faculty, Staff, and supervised classroom instruction. The training room is available to small groups or individuals to conduct meetings, training programs, and other related activities.

Innovation Technology Center at Hampton Campus ​
Project Budget: $35,000 ​
The new Innovative Technology Center (ITC) is located in Wythe Hall 237 and ITC features 21 state-of-the-art classroom technology. The ITC is the home for hands on technology training & collaboration. The ITC is available for technology testing, meetings, and other educational purposes.

Congressman Bobby Scott Observes Thomas Nelson's TRiO Summer Bridge Program in Action ​
Nineteen students participating in a summer bridge program called Smart Start to Thomas Nelson Community College received special attention recently when Congressman Bobby Scott, who represents Virginia’s 3rd district, visited the Hampton campus. TRiO Program Director Virginia Keithley (pictured left) invited Congressman Scott to observe their Amazing Race, an interactive scavenger hunt that allows new students to explore the campus and learn about various student services.

The Slover - Conference Rooms AV Upgrades
Project Budget: $120,000 ​
The Slover offers multiple conference and study rooms that patrons and guests frequently utilize. The technology in the conference rooms has not been upgraded since the building opened in 2015. Upgrading the audio-video (AV) system in a conference room is essential for improving communication, collaboration, and productivity. All the conference rooms will have the necessary tools for smooth video conferencing, including high-definition cameras and noise-canceling microphones, which make virtual meetings more productive. Additionally, users can easily connect their laptops to share presentations or access meeting tools, enabling a flexible and dynamic meeting experience.

Upgrading the audio-video (AV) conference room technology in multiple conference rooms at the Slover. This technology encompasses upgrading the TV size, integrating a video conference system, and enhancing the overall end-user experience.​​​

The Slover - Children's Computer Lab
Project Budget: $25,000 ​
The Downtown Branch at Slover has restored its children's computer lab with brand-new AWE Children's Computers. AWE Children's Computers are preloaded with educational software and games that focus on helping children develop key skills. These include reading, math, science, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. The content is typically designed to be age-appropriate and interactive, keeping children engaged while they learn. The stations are plug-and-play ready and require no Internet.

The Slover - Children's Interactive Projector
Project Budget: $22,000 ​
Since its original installation in 2015, the interactive projector system has been an enormous success with the children and parents at the Downtown Branch at Slover. The Downtown Branch at Slover will upgrade its system with an EyeClick Beam 4K laser projector, featuring a bright display and excellent sound, along with over 300 games that keep players active and engaged for hours. Beam Projectors is a maintenance-free solution that provides up to 30,000 hours of flawless operation without requiring lamp replacement.

The Slover - iPad Kiosk Catalog stations
Project Budget: $2,500 ​
The Downtown Branch at Slover installed four new iPad Kiosk Catalog stations. The kiosk setup provides a more user-friendly interface, enabling staff and patrons to use the system more effectively. In searching for and retrieving books, this can save time for librarians, users, and staff.
The iPad Kiosk Catalogs will be installed in the following locations
• 1st Floor next to the circulation desk
• 2nd Floor, across from the Information Desk
• 4th Floor, across from the Information Desk
• 5th Floor, across from the Information Desk

The Slover - Clover Station Setup
Project Budget: $2,200​
Slover Events upgraded its point-of-sale system to a Clover Station. The Clover station can process payments, track inventory, and generate sales reports from one system. In addition, it has a touchscreen POS with hardware like a receipt printer, barcode scanner, and cash drawer. Another great feature is its ease of use. It functions like any other tablet, and the website offers support tutorials.

The Slover - Children's Interactive Projector

Earlier this year, the Downtown Branch at Slover upgraded its interactive projector system. The EyeClick Beam 4K laser projector has been an enormous success with children. The Slover installed a second interactive projector system on the 2nd floor with 300-plus games that keep players active and engaged for hours. The Beam Projector is a maintenance-free solution that delivers up to 30,000 hours of flawless operation without requiring lamp replacement.
